Hope's Child Care

"Caring is What I do Best".

ILLNESS POLICY
I do NOT care for sick children. If your child(ren) is/are displaying symptoms of an illness or is acting as though they are not feeling well, please keep them home or find alternate care while they are not well. If your child(ren) develops symptoms showing that the child(ren) is/are sick, other than a cold, while in my care a phone call will be made and it will be the parents responsibility to pick up the child within 1 hour after they receive the phone call.

SYMPTOMS REQUIRING REMOVAL OF CHILD FROM CHILD CARE
Children should stay home if they are sick or showing symptoms that show that the child is sick, other than a cold. Below are symptoms that would require a child to stay home or be removed from the day care:

FEVER: Fever is defined as having a temperature over 98.6 degrees F taken under the arm, over 99.5 degrees F taken orally, or over 100.4 degrees F taken rectally. A child needs to be fever free without the aid of Tylenol or any fever reducing substance for a period of at least 24 hours.

DIARRHEA: runny or watery stools, or 2 or more loose stools within the last 4 hours

VOMITING

RUNNY NOSE: your child may be brought if they have a common cold (slight cough, clear runny nose, and occasional sneezing) anything more than a common cold is not acceptable.

RUNNY AND/OR CRUSTY EYES: watery, matted, and/or red/pink eyes are not acceptable

UNEXPLAINED RASH

ANY COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: will not be accepted back into day care until the illness is no longer communicable and your child is not displaying symptoms that they are still ill

ANY UNUSUAL SYMPTOMS

Your child(ren) will not be accepted into day care if they have one of these symptoms. Children need to be absent until they have been well and have not displayed symptom(s) for at least 24 hours. Sick children need to recover fully so that other children in the group don't risk exposure. Children should not attend unless they are able to participate fully in all activities of the childcare.

Regular fees apply when children are out due to illness. I reserve the right to determine when a child should be sent home due to an illness. If it is thought that your child(ren) has/have a communicable disease they will be isolated until they are picked up. They will be given special attention and comfort until they are picked up.

If someone in my family has any of the above symptoms, I will call you, if possible (sometimes my children wake up with an illness and it is impossible to call), or as soon as I am aware of the situation (or I will let you know when you arrive, if an A.M. phone call was not possible), so that you may determine whether or not you want your child exposed to whatever symptoms they have. Regular fees apply unless I close my day care due to an illness. When a family member is ill, they will be isolated from the day care. I reserve the right to close my day care if I feel the illness will hinder the quality of care for your child. If I close my day care it will be your responsibility to find childcare for the period of time that I am closed.
